Interserve's construction joint venture Khansaheb, has been awarded a GBP81 million contract by Middle East developer Majid Al Futtaim (MAF), to expand and upgrade the City Centre Ajman mall in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Under the contract, Khansaheb will more than double the size of the existing mall from 32,000m(2) to 70,000m(2) , expand a number of retails units and build a new car park, creating 2,400 new parking spaces.
The contract also includes the addition of new mechanical and electrical installations to serve the expanded mall, the creation of new walkways, food courts, offices and a children's entertainment venue. It further includes exterior landscaping work and the re-configuration of access roads leading to the mall.
Steve Flint, Khansaheb's General Manager said:
"This contract win demonstrates Majid Al Futtaim Group's ongoing confidence in Khansaheb's capabilities in the retail sector, as it closely follows the successful expansion of Dubai's premier shopping centre, Mall of the Emirates."
The project will be delivered in a number of phases to enable the existing mall and facilities to remain fully functional and open to the public.
